America Is Moving South, And We’re Benefiting Here In Texas

Fort Worth is seeing the benefit of population growth that’s happening all across the Southern United States. New numbers from the Census Bureau show that several Texas cities are seeing more than their fair share of population growth. While Fort Worth didn’t make this list, you can’t deny that we’re growing quickly here too.

The numbers don’t take into account any changes going forward that may result from recent world events and record unemployment across the nation, but they clearly show that we have something special here in Texas – and people from all across America are rushing to experience.

Getting Into The Numbers

While the once-a-decade census for 2020 isn’t complete, the Census Bureau has some useful new numbers out this May that include estimates through 2019. Of the nation’s 15 quickest-growing cities with a population over 50,000, a surprising 10 are in the South and 6 are in the Lone Star State.

Frisco comes in at the top of the list of quick-growers. Since the last census 10 years ago, Frisco’s population has increased an astounding 71.1 percent. In Central Texas, the top-growing city is New Braunfels, which grew 56.4 percent and came in at number 3 on the list. In between is Buckeye, Arizona – a city that’s not necessarily on the national radar.

Other Texas cities to make the Census Bureau list include McKinney here in North Texas as well as Cedar Park, Conroe and Round Rock. While Mount Pleasant ranked number 12, it’s Mount Pleasant, South Carolina.

Cities around the nation that are seeing fast growth include South Jordan, Utah as well as Irvine, California and Murfreesboro, Tennessee.

The Bureau points out that many other cities in Texas are also experiencing fast growth and that 5 of the nation’s largest cities are in Texas, including Fort Worth placing as the 13th largest city in America. Dallas is number 9.

When you consider Fort Worth, Dallas, Houston, Austin and San Antonio together, the population gain from 2010 to 2019 is closing in on 1 million people.

These Numbers Are No Surprise

I see every day how much Fort Worth is growing and hear all the time about the impressive growth across the South. It’s no wonder that Americans are flocking to some of the greatest cities in the nation to make new homes and better lives for themselves.
